El Dominican-Yo es un Blog inspirado por un viaje mío a la Republica Dominicana hace un año. Durante este tiempo en mi patria, descubrí que no soy como los habitantes de está isla. No soy un hombre de la loma o que monta pasola; no soy un plátano que vive en barrios y va a bailar en carwashes en vez de clubs. Descubrí que no soy dominicano, sino soy un Dominican-Yo. Un extranjero que solamente finge ser de esta cultura. Alguien de sangre diluida. Un rico que nunca pudiera saber lo que es tener hambre o orgullo por los campos y provincias que cubran la isla de Quisqueya. No soy dominicano pero tampoco soy americano. Mi piel trigueña no tiene una clasificación ni pertenece a cualquier país. Un hombre sin un lugar adonde un día lo entierraran. Nací un dominicano pero mis años en Nueva York me transformaron a un Dominican-Yo.
El Dominican-Yo is a Blog inspired by a trip I took to the Dominican Republic almost a year ago. During this time in my home country, I discovered that I am not like the inhabitants of this island. I am not from the hills and do not ride Vespa scooters; I am not a platano who lives in a barrio and go dance in carwashes instead of clubs. I discovered that I am not Dominican, instead I am a Dominican-yo. A foreigner who only feigns to be part of that culture. Someone of diluted blood. A rich person who could never know what it is to have hunger or pride for the countryside or provinces that cover the island of Quisqueya. I am not Dominican but at the same time, I am not American. My skin is a beautiful brown but does not have any particular classification or belong to any particular country. I am a man withoug a place to be buried in. I was born Dominican, but my years in New York have transformed me into a Dominican-yo.
